The Niranjana School girls experienced a 2-day workshop with Columbia University graduates Amad Ross and Josh Collier.

The lessons centred around intercultural dialogue and imagination. The outstanding group of sixth and seventh graders asked Josh and Amad in-depth questions about the United States in order to learn more about the differences between their and our cultures. After quite a few brainstorming discussions, Josh and Amad asked students to imagine that they were studying abroad in the United States and to write a letter to a loved one back home, sharing their learnings and experiences. The assignment was meant to practice creativity and imagination in writing, which requires the ability to occupy different perspectives and put them on the page.

Students wrote beautifully, showcasing their imaginations and developing their writing abilities. Amad and Josh were thankful to work with such brilliant students and to teach in the building where EHIS’s rich history began.
